11. The Strange Bird: A Borne Story by Jeff VanderMeer

Set during the same time period as Borne, this novella is both a hauntingly beautiful and horrifying story. We follow the life story of a bioengineered bird and the impact humans have on her. A bit of a slow start but eventually becomes engrossing.
