I don't mind when memoirs have some element of fiction as long as it's disclosed. But I do believe that most memoirs aren't entirely factual, whether intentional or simply because the passage of time clouds the memory.

I'll link to your review on War Through the Generations.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212465766317764317.post-62568897007999606152010-11-15T06:54:48.916-05:002010-11-15T06:54:48.916-05:00bermuda, I agree. But a memoir does only tell one person's side of the story from what they can *remember* and of course, they edit out what they don't want public and I imagine what they do remember at times will be through rose-coloured glasses and at others with bitterness. I certainly see your point.

I do so much more enjoy them than biographies though when someone else tries to dissect a person's life and often erroneously interpret why they did what they did. I rather hear it straight from the source even if they don't spill it all.Nikki in Niagarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13348586723780500367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212465766317764317.post-41955289343874753562010-11-14T19:01:51.983-05:002010-11-14T19:01:51.983-05:00I love memoirs too, and really and truly, I imagin...I love memoirs too, and really and truly, I imagine they're all fictionalized in some way.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212465766317764317.post-75343761808616655572010-11-14T15:41:49.451-05:002010-11-14T15:41:49.451-05:00I too like this period very much and enjoyed your ...I too like this period very much and enjoyed your review.Mysticahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10941269615559681014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212465766317764317.post-73421752377093993012010-11-14T09:47:51.417-05:002010-11-14T09:47:51.417-05:00Great review! I like WWII era books too, and this may be an even more interesting read since I found out through a genealogy search that some of my Russian relatives were originally living in Poland until the war.

Thanks for sharing!Suzanne Yesterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00340451897624838384noreply@blogger.com
